Buckman is honored to present "This Place, This Time", an installation of 2-D work and a live performance, by local artist, Siphne A. Sylve. The show is inspired by an interview with artist/activist, Nina Simone. In a late 1960 interview with Andy Stroud Ms. Simone explains how “an artist’s duty is to reflect the times. That is true of painters, sculptors, poets, musicians...And at this crucial time in our lives, when everything is so desperate, when everyday is a matter of survival, I don’t think you can help but be involved...We will shape and mold this country or it will not be molded and shaped at all anymore.” Siphne explores an artist's role in humanity through sound and collage. Her stage show is in conjunction with the Levy Gallery exhibit.
